2012 is the latest release of this now legendary wine, the first white wine ever to receive a perfect score of 100 points from The Wine Advocate for the debut vintage 2009. This is made from late harvested Gewürztraminer from the Nussbaumer Cru, aged for 7 years inside an old silver mine in the Alps with perfect humidity and temperature. The wine is an explosion of flavours which lingers on the palate for minutes. The attention to detail is quite staggering making this, quite possibly, Italy's greatest white wine, and certainly the best Gewürztraminer we have ever encountered. The production is extremely limited.

Alto Adige

Alto Adige along with Friuli could be considered as the source of Italy’s greatest white wines. The region is bilingual with road signs and town names having both Italian and German versions and was the last region to join unified Italy in 1919, having previously been part of the Austria-Hungary Empire. The climate is influence by the Alps with vineyards planted on the steep hillsides of the Adige Valley. The varieties planted here are a mix of internationals such as Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc alongside the local specialities, but our preference at Noble Grape is for the latter such as Pinot Bianco, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Grigio, Schiava, etc.

We are delighted to present the wines from three wineries, Nals Margreid, Tramin, and Terlan each having their own specialities. The first is renowned for their Pinot Biancos and can boast the region's best example from this variety, Sirmian. Tramin is, among other things, a specialist in Gewürztraminer. You may be forgiven for thinking that Alsace is the spiritual home of this variety, but we would canvass that it is in fact, here, in Alto Adige, that a more convincing claim could be made since the variety is named after the town of Tramin.

Terlan is the latest additon to our range, another of the region's famed cantine sociali making truly extraordinary wines.
