Port Charlotte PMC:01 9YO Heavily Peated Islay Single Malt Whisky 54.5%

Port Charlotte is the name given to the single malts produced at Bruichladdich distillery on Islay. 

PMC:01 is an exploration of casks. This 2013 distilled version is finished in Pomerol casks, one of the most excellent districts of Bordeaux for red wines, after being aged in first-fill Bourbon casks for four years. It has been peated to the regular PPM of 40, giving it smoky complexity.

This 2013 is the first time Port Charlotte has been aged in Pomerol casks, and the result is exceptional. The quality of the oak paired with the spirit's versatility is remarkable, and the flavour pays homage to both the wine region of the cask and the spirit's all-inlay maturation. It showcases the harmonious balance between oak, rich fruit and gentle peat smoke – an unforgettable single malt.
