The newly arrived 2020 Cuvee Classique from Bandol's flagship estate has been, for this vintage, renamed as Lulu & Lucien, after its founders. Lulu Peyraud (nee Tempier) passed away at age 102 in 2020, and this release is a fitting homage to her and her husband, custodians of the estate since 1943.
The 2020 has a touch more freshness than the riper 2019, despite its 14.5%. For those who know the wine well, Tempier Cuvee Classique has incredible ageing potential, but can always, at the very least, be appreciated when young. Try the 2020 now, but best after 2025 and beyond.
