Catarratto
Catarratto is a white grape variety primarily grown in Sicily, Italy. It is one of the most widely planted grape varieties in Sicily, accounting for a significant portion of the island's vineyards. Catarratto is known for producing high yields of grapes and for its ability to thrive in hot and dry conditions.
Catarratto grapes are typically used to produce dry white wines that are crisp and refreshing, with flavours of stoned fruits. The grape can also be used in blends to add acidity and complexity to the wine. Some producers in Sicily are also experimenting with ageing Catarratto wines in oak barrels, which can give the wines additional layers of flavour and texture.
