Stefan Meyer is a talented wine producer from Rhodt unter Rietburg, in the German wine region of Pfalz. The area is like a northern extension of Alsace, located between the Vosges mountains and the Rhine. Here, you will find a similar range of grape varieties found in nearby French neighbours, both Burgundy and Alsace. This Pinot Gris, locally known as Grauerburgunder, is one excellent example.

The wines in Pfalz are generally harvested a few weeks before their French neighbours. The region is lower in elevation, so it is slightly warmer. The wine is fermented dry, using stainless steel and large oak barrels, and left to rest on its lees. It is semi-aromatic in style with subtle hints of tropical and stoned fruits.

Stefan Meyer

Stefan Meyer is the latest addition to our small, but highly selected range of producers from Germany. Stefan is highly trained, having spent vintages in California, Austria, and France. He took over as the third generation of this winery in the late 2010s and immediately started converting to organic viticulture. All the wines are certified organic from 2021 onwards.

The vineyards, 10 hectares, are located in the village of Rhodt unter Rietburg, in the wine region of Pfalz: the natural northerly extension of Alsace, between the Vosges mountains and the Rhine. Here, you can find grape varieties traditionally associated with both Alsace (Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Blanc) and Burgundy (Pinot Noir and Chardonnay)
