No Place Like Home is Sam Lambson's 2nd single vineyard Syrah, a follow-up to his cult wine 'Stars in The Dark'. This time the site is a three hectare vineyard in Niemandsrivier in Elgin: another cool climate site that Sam tends to favour for his Syrahs. Like Stars in The Dark, this is another huge success: also in the vein of Northern Rhone Syrah with its black pepper, medium weight and emphasis on finesse over power. Perhaps with just a little more mid-palate density than SITD, with equal cellaring potential of 5 - 10 years. Notes of black olive tapenade, violets, crushed rocks, graphite, and maybe just a little hint of brambles. Perhaps another cult wine in the making. We have limited availability so grab it whilst we have it.

Sam Lambson, Minimalist Wines
Minimalist Wines is our latest discovery of nouvelle vague wineries from South Africa. It is the creation of Sam Lambson, a graduate of Oenology at the University of Stellenbosch and veteran of vintages with Chris Ahleit and Lukas Van Loggerenberg.
Sam's mission is to create cool-climate Syrahs. He gained much recognition and praise for his Stars in The Dark Syrah, an expression from the 'Koffieklip', or coffee stone (or Ferricrete, as it is known to geologists) of Cape Agulhas. His latest creation, No Place Like Home is sourced from shale and sandstone sites in Elgin.

South Africa is developing at break-neck speed, so much so that I find it difficult to keep up with all the new, young, driven producers making the next big thing from old-vine Chenin or Chenin blends. There are many high points in our range, but worthy of particular mention are the cool, coastal wines of Newton Johnson, makers of Noble Grape’s favourite best value Pinot Noir, and the quite incredible wines of Chris Williams from The Foundry. From time to time we will have parcels of the aforementioned parcel wines, so keep checking out our latest releases.
