Kumeu River 2019 Coddington Chardonnay

If you haven't heard already, 2019 from Kumeu River is one of the greatest vintages they have produced.

Coddington is one of Kumeu's single vineyard Chardonnays. The 2019, like all Kumeu River's wines this year, has a beautiful crystalline quality to the fruit with a pine forest character, but there is underlying richness. Coddington is distinguished as being the one fo the richer styles that Kumeu makes, but this year the balance is absolutely perfect. The fruit character leans towards bitter mandarin and other citrus fruits, just a hint of fig in background. Best to drink from 2022 onwards, but will continue to evolve until the end of this decade.
