Emidio Pepe is one of Italy's most extraordinary producers. We are delighted to have a few bottles from this legendary producer, who could be considered with equal reverence as Edoardo Valentini. This is his Cerasuolo which could either be considered a powerful rosé or a medium to full red depending on how you want to look at it. It is made from Emidio Pepe's best Montepulciano grapes, then vinified the same way as their white wines with little or no maceration. The colour is a akin to Pinot Noir, but the latent power in this wine is quite remarkable. First of all, don't chill it too much, if at all, and definitely decant it. Thirdly, keep it in the cellar as this has years of ageing ahead of it. This wine is a real gem, and is a pure expression of Italian wines from a generation ago - untouched by modernity.

Abruzzo

Abruzzo

Abruzzo is located in southern central Italy between the Adriatic Sea and the Apennines. It has a landscape of mountains and beautiful coastlines with rolling hills of vineyards, olive groves and cereal crops. In terms of wines, this region is home to some of the country's best known and best value wines, particularly Montepulciano. In recent years there has been much attention given to the white wines of the region too, mostly for the fragrant and textured wines made from the Pecorino variety, but also those from Trebbiano Abruzzese. This region is home to two of Italy's legendary producers: Edouardo Valentini and Emidio Pepe whose wines are highly sought-after all over the world, but here you can also find one of Noble Grape's favourite value-for-money producers, Rocco Pasetti, who makes simply wonderful wines at everyday prices.
