Domaine Huet 2018 Vouvray Demi-Sec Le Haut Lieu

Demi-Sec is Vouvray's calling card, with Domaine Huet  being the flag bearer for the appellation: it's most historic and best-regarded producer. Demi-Sec means it is half-dry with just a small amount of sweetness to make the palate silky and to tame the naturally high acidity of Chenin Blanc. Despite its gentle sweetness this is a great wine to match with gastronomy, and it is enjoyable in its youth, but the wine will age very slowly over a period of decades. 

2018 is a great vintage for Huet, a year when they made all styles of wines starting with their dry (Sec) right up to their top late harvest wines, Premiere Trie. It is a warm vintage, but the wine hasn't suffered due to this as it has naturally high acidty, and a pinch of tannin which both refresh the palate. The mineral component in the wine is apparent, plus notes of ripe pear, quince and candied lemon.
