Chateau Grand Village 2022 Bordeaux Blanc
Chateau Grand Village Rouge is one of Noble Grape's absolute classic reds, one of Bordeaux's great bargains. It has taken us a wee while to catch up with their white, which, before this vintage, I hadn't tasted for a long time. Indeed, not since Omri Ram, head winemaker at Pomerol's, and the Guinaudeau family's other property, Chateau Lafleur, started making the wines. We hoped for the same turnaround in quality with the white, and we weren't disappointed.
The wine is lemony and pithy, with fine minerality and texture. The Semillon is in the background at the moment; right now, it is all Sauvignon. We're absolutely fine with that. With a few years in the bottle, the Semillon will come to the fore a little more. Enjoy right now for its juiciness, or keep it for 6 - 7 years until it unfurls.
