Unquestionably, Italy's greatest aromatic white wine, made from a single vineyard in the Dolomites, in Tramin, the home of Gewurztraminer. Intensely aromatic, but dry and crisp.  Aromas of spring flowers, wet stones, but has a sprinkling of moondust. A unique wine

The Wine Region

alto adige

Alto Adige

Alto Adige along with Friuli could be considered as the source of Italy’s greatest white wines. The region is bilingual with road signs and town names having both Italian and German versions and was the last region to join unified Italy in 1919, having previously been part of the Austria-Hungary Empire. The climate is influence by the Alps with vineyards planted on the steep hillsides of the Adige Valley. The varieties planted here are a mix of internationals such as Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc alongside the local specialities, but our preference at Noble Grape is for the latter such as Pinot Bianco, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Grigio, Schiava, etc.

We are delighted to present the wines from two wineries, Nals Margreid and Tramin, each having their own specialities. The former is renowned for their Pinot Biancos and can boast the region's best example from this variety, Sirmian. Tramin is, among other things, a specialist in Gewürztraminer. You may be forgiven for thinking that Alsace is the spiritual home of this variety, but we would canvass that it is in fact, here, in Alto Adige, that a more convincing claim could be made since the variety is named after the town of Tramin.
