Cantina Diomede 2022 Lama di Pietra Nero di Troia

Puglia is a beautiful viticulture region, celebrated chiefly for its immensely popular Primitivos. We admire Primitivo for its likeability, but there are many other native varieties that we believe have much more potential for top quality: Nero di Troia is perhaps the best example.

Nero di Troia is mostly found in the northern part of Puglia in the province of Foggia: this example comes from the hills around Canosa, close to the stunning mediaeval fortress of Castel del Monte.

The wine is more gentle and refined than you would expect, with bright notes of black cherry, and gentle tannins, but at the same time, it is rather fruit-forward.

We love its Southern Italian character and personality.
