Canalicchio di Sopra 2019 Brunello di Montalcino

2019 is an excellent vintage in Montalcino. This superb version from Canalicchio di Sopra is our pick of the vintage - this is an estate we have followed for a number of years and their wines are consistently excellent. 

Compared with recent vintage, 2019 is certainly better than 2017 and 2018, but perhaps not quite up there with the 2016s: a vintage built for the long term. The 2019s are supple and rich but not quite the massive intensity of the 2016s.

However, for the coming 5 years, the 2019s will drink sooner whilst offering gorgeous, silky fruit, and rich flavours of forest fruits, cedar, wood smoke, amid black cherry
