Pinot Bianco

Pinot Bianco

Pinot Bianco is a white wine grape variety that is widely grown in the cool climate wine regions of Europe, particularly in Italy (Alto Adige and Friuli-Venezia Giulia), Germany, Austria, and France (Alsace and less frequently in Burgundy). It is one of the Pinot grape family members, which also includes Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris.

Pinot Bianco grapes are typically small and tightly packed with a thin skin, resulting in a relatively low yield per vine. The wine made from Pinot Bianco grapes is usually dry, with moderate acidity, and a light to medium body. It often has a subtle floral aroma, but above all renowned for its creaminess.

It is often blended with other white grape varieties to add complexity and depth to the final wine. Pinot Bianco is also sometimes used to make sparkling wines, primarily Cremant d'Alsace, and as a minor constituent to the blend of Franciacorta
