Emilia Romagna

Emilia Romagna

Politically speaking, Emilia Romagna is one region, but viticulturally, these are two very separate zones. Emilia is more akin to a northern Italian region with its sparkling and often delicious, Lambrusco, hailing from the borders of the Italian plain, the Pianura. On the other hand you have Romagna which is much more akin to a Central Italian region with its hilltop vineyards planted to Sangiovese, being just the other side of the Apennines from Tuscany. Combined, these two very different zones form one of Italy's largest producing regions. Yet, aside from Lambrusco its wines are barely known, despite being the beating heart of Italy's gastronomy
