Moulin de la Roque

Moulin de la Roque

Bandol is the most important AOC in Provence for fine wines. The region is around 1580 hectares according to the most recent Cahiers des Charges (2011) but is under constant threat from property development, due to its proximity to the Cotes d'Azur. The region basks in 3,000 hours of annual sunshine, but due to its elevated position and the cooling wind of the Mistral the vineyards maintain a temperate climate allowing for fresh, brisk whites to made in the cooler parts.

The reds are the most important part, with its signature being the noble Mourvedre variety, which must compose at least 50% of the blend. The rosés are some of France's best, whilst all being robust enough to age and improve with several years in bottle.

Moulin de la Roque is a company formed by the coming together of three co-operatives, comprised of 200 members and 313 hectares covering all eight communes of the appellation. The wines are remarkably well priced for a region known for its high-priced and highly sought-after wines.
