Update 7th April

Hello folks, we now have very good stocks of wine in Cowbridge, with deliveries arriving everyday. We don't have our entire stock list available but a conservative 90% of it is. The Malbecs from the offer continue to be popular and we have deliveries of Zuccardi, Achaval Ferrer, Finca Sophenia and Santuario twice, sometimes three times, per week. The wine of the moment is Louis Jadot Macon Villages which at times like these, everyone loves a great value glass of white Burgundy. Villa Maria is also enjoying popular sales.

Despite the turmoil, we have been taking on some new wines. Look out for these beauties in our Everyday Wines section. A new great value Rueda from Garciarevalo, one of Spain's more interesting regions for whites; a new Muscadet from the very respectable co-op Vignerons de Pallet; a new Rose from Cave St Verny which is a blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay from the Volcanic vines of the Puy de Dome in the Auvergne.

From our current list we have just received a new shipment of the brilliant Gamay from Moulin Camus, a cracking buy at under a tenner. A new shipment of Cavas from Vilarnau arrives Wednesday for those looking for some great value and delicious sparkling wines.

Even better news, arriving tomorrow is the Bourgogne Les Setilles from Olivier Leflaive. This is one of our best selling Burgundies. We had already bust our allocation of the 2018 vintage, but due to other sectors of the wine market (London on-trade) being shut down we have been able to get a few more boxes.

Order early for Easter. Rest assured we will be working day and night to make sure you have some wine for the weekend.

Update 3rd April

First the good news. Yesterday we sent out twice as many orders as new ones received so we are working our way through the backlog. We had over 200 cases of wine arrive yesterday, with more deliveries scheduled in for today and Monday.

Now for the not so good news. We do have an upcoming crisis in that we are running out of packaging material. There has been unprecedented demand on internet wine sales, so our supplier has, for the time being, run out. We'll be scratching around for suitable packaging to send out with our courier.

Inbound deliveries will become less frequent as the main bonded warehouses are cutting delivery days. The van (my car) has been rammed every night with local delivery drops and we finally had to give up at 10.30 last night when customers stopped answering their doors. All deliveries will be completed, but please be patient. We are working every hour we can to get you your wines.

Please remember to help our Italian friends. The Pecorino from Rocco Pasetti (Cowbridge's favourite wine) is now in and more Montepulciano is on the way, with some of his fantastic 2019 Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo, a flavoursome rose made from Montepulciano.

Keep safe folks.

Richard

Update 27th March

We have now cleared a lot of the backlog, we're not back to normal service yet, but getting close. Thanks for your patience. We have stock arriving everyday, but still working with a reduced range. The good news is that our best selling wine Rocco Pasetti 2019 Pecorino will be back in stock on Thursday 2nd April. Please support our Italian friends, they really need it. We have also prepared a new shipment from Tuscany from our very good friends at Famiglia Cecchi and we will shortly have news of a new producer from Verona province with some great value whites, reds and Prosecco.

The Government announced yesterday that 'off licences' have been added to the list of essential business, despite this we will still keep the doors closed until further notice. To be honest, the high street is empty and I don't quite think it's worth the risk anyway. We'll keep delivering as long as you keep phoning and emailing. The support from the town and from our nationwide internet customers has been very encouraging, and thanks to everyone for being understanding about shipments and substitutions. Our sales mix since this crisis started has completely changed. We now must be somewhere around 75% white wine, with rosé also being in big demand, which we didn't anticipate, and is taking a few days just to get some more beautiful wines in stock for everyone. Rest assured, we are working day and night to make sure customers are not left without wine.

Update 25th March

We are catching up with orders as stock is arriving everyday this week. Some of our top sellers are now running low, particularly our Italians. We have a new shipment of Pecorino from Rocco Pasetti on the way and plenty of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Our courier APC Overnight is still running a normal service. The website is still only about 90% accurate as we struggle to balance stock in store and online. Please check stocks by phone 01446 775505 if there is something in particular that you are after. Just a reiteration of what I have posted on social media - we won't be taking any cash on delivery and we will only deliver to your doorstep. For local deliveries I will phone in advance and let you know when it has been dropped off. Keep safe folks.

Update 24th March 2020

Following the Goverment's forced closure of all non-essential shops, we will be closing the doors to the public until further notice. However, we remain open for home deliveries and internet sales, locally and nationwide. Please phone 01446 775505, email (preferred) [email protected] or send orders via our website. Please be patient whilst we manage our stocks and in-coming deliveries which will be slightly more awkward from now on.
