Antinori 2017 Tignanello

Tignanello is a legendary Super Tuscan from the estate of Antinori, from vineyards in Chianti Classico, grown to mostly Sangiovese with a smaller proportion of Cabernets Sauvignon and Franc. It is one of the original wave of Super Tuscans, first produced in 1971, the brainwave of Piero Antinori and his then winemaker Giacomo Tachis, the latter also being responsible for Sassicaia, Sammarco and many other pioneering Super Tuscans.

2017 was a hot and dry season in Tuscany, but the wine shows no heat stress, nor does it want for the acidity that is a defining characteristic of top end Sangiovese. This is a wine for keeping until at least 2023.
